During their time at UDC, they served as the President of the UDC Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, where they sharpened their leadership skills while advocating for social justice causes. Additionally, they contributed as the Secretary of the UDC Chapter of the Animal Legal Defense Fund and competed with distinction on the UDC Mock Trial Competition Team.
Accomplishments & Leadership: Prior to law school, Janis earned a B.A. in Law and Society and Psychology from American University. Their involvement in the Mock Trial Team during their undergraduate years further solidified their interest in trial advocacy.
Experience in Criminal Law Advocacy: In their professional practice, Janis has handled a diverse array of criminal cases, ranging from minor traffic infractions to high-stakes felony matters. They have notably contributed as a second-chair attorney in serious felony trials, including cases involving charges of sexual assault on a child.
