Kristina Contreras is an Associate Attorney at Johnson Law Group, specializing in key areas of individual legal needs, including family law, immigration, and personal injury. With extensive experience in advocating for clients from diverse, multicultural backgrounds, she is devoted to helping individuals and families navigate complex legal challenges.
Education and Professional Experience: Ms. Contreras holds a Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law and is admitted to practice in both Minnesota and Colorado. With an academic background in business management, Ms. Contreras began her legal career at a renowned law firm where she worked on corporate legal investigations for Fortune 500 companies.
However, the memory of a promise made to her grandfather—to advocate for the rights of minorities—led her to a career shift. She reinvented herself as an immigration attorney and, over the years, had the privilege of working with nationally recognized law firms.
Ms. Contreras won countless custody orders by creating effective case strategies. Also, she has experience in a wide range of immigration law issues, including family-and employment-based immigration cases. Ms. Contreras successfully litigated Deport and Removal cases in Immigration Court. Throughout her career, she has had the invaluable opportunity to work with clients from all over the world, including Africa, China, Cuba, El Salvador, Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Client Representation Philosophy: As Ms. Contreras approaches almost a decade of legal experience, she joined Johnson Law Group for its unwavering dedication to ethical practices and outstanding client service. Her approach to representation is grounded in empathy, strategic insight, and a steadfast dedication to achieving the best possible outcomes for each client.
Ms. Contreras understands that every case is unique, and she works tirelessly to offer personalized, responsive support. She is committed to ensuring that every client feels heard, valued, and thoroughly advocated for. Whether navigating family law, immigration, or personal injury matters, she provides expert guidance along with a compassionate presence during difficult times.
Cultural Background: Ms. Contreras is a first-generation American from a multicultural family. Her maternal grandfather was a Chinese refugee who immigrated to Thailand, her paternal grandfather was Apache, and her grandmother was from Chihuahua, Mexico.
She has always had a passion for advocacy, and prior to law school, volunteered as a naturalization instructor at the Oxnard Mexican Consulate in her home state of California. This is where her passion turned into a calling and solidified her commitment to serve others with diverse backgrounds.
Beyond the Courtroom: Ms. Contreras has a lifelong affinity for music, having studied and performed lyrical opera prior to law school. Today, one of her greatest joys is attending operas with her Italian husband. In her personal time, she enjoys meditation, challenging her husband to cook-offs, hiking the beautiful Colorado trails and spending time with her cats, Micia and Pico.
